BIO & STATEMENT
Allie was born in California and raised by awesome parents who encouraged her to do dance and theater for 13 years. Upon her entrance to Sarah Lawrence College in 2005, she began exploring new creative pathways, which lead her to pursue a curriculum based heavily in visual art. In 2007, a semester of study in Cuba ignited a love of Latin America and a passion for working creatively within a narrower social context.
Having studied sculpture, black and white photography, printmaking, and artist books, she graduated in 2009 and moved to Ecuador for 7 months, working freelance with other artists in small communities. Allie has recently relocated back to New York where she is working as an independent artist and consultant.
I have always been influenced by color and form, which has lead me to explore my creative process through a variety of materials. I love experimenting with visual textures, and in my work I strive to create a sense of movement and continuity throughout each piece using materials and colors that might not lend themselves to such natural fluidity. My goal is to create an experience for the viewer that encourages them to consider color and form abstractly as well as physically.
