"My work is purely experimental. Each composition usually contains a mixture of acrylic inks, gauche and oils. I sometime mix the first three to obtain a well textured surface. In this process a reaction occurs when they are mixed."
"The consistency of the paint thickens and crumbles to form these small colorful pebbles. My tools vary in type. I mainly use chop sticks, brushes, droppers, sponges and clothes. Each piece is conceived on canvas and most often result into these non objective paintings."
Erica Geralds was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1969. She eventually received her BFA in Fine Arts in 2013 from the Fashion Institute of Technology. During her time there she interned for Rush Arts Gallery for a semester.
About a year later she interned and worked as a freelance artist assistant for Wangechi Mutu. Soon after she began freelancing as a curator organizing exhibitions at Bar Catalonia's Gotham Gallery. She will be curating her third exhibition there this year.
