BIO & STATEMENT
The storm totems are beams that I collect on the beach after big storms after they are washed up. I then inlay my concrete tiles of ancient symbols . The concrete tiles are hand carved images that are then cast in concrete and stained with a mild acid that produces a variety of patinas. I then set the tiles in different relationships to each other. The symbols carved are early Christian, Celtic, Germanic runes, pagan, Egyptian native American and also hobo.
I attended The School of Visual Arts, worked as a commercial artist, as well as a photographer. I pursued an outdoor lifestyle, living in Vermont, and Colorado working in the trades. I use my knowledge of the trades in my artwork, carpentry, concrete. The materials I use are scavenged from the beach
