"My art explores the feelings of freedom and imprisonment, both physically and ornamentally. What does it look like to be free? How does it feel? What is it like to feel imprisoned? And how can I show this in the most elegant way possible without it being blatantly obvious? I use the encaustic/mixed media mediums to study these ideas. The wax is malleable. It can be manipulated to, either, free or imprison the materials under it/above it. Watercolor is a great medium to examine freedom—it is so fluid and transparent on the page."
"Sometimes, we are unaware of either feeling: freedom or imprisonment, and so my intention as an artist is to show a glimpse of both, thereby affecting my perspective audience."
