"All of my photographs are slices of life, and most are clear, easy to understand and enjoy at a glance. Yet there are among my photographs those in another category, one I find intriguing--photographs that capture everyday objects a bit differently, bending them in a way that forces us to see things a bit differently. This part of my work strives to show the abstract in everyday objects—offering a reality that can be distorted, broken, puzzling, and, at times, radiating with an inner quality."
"Contrasts, shapes, patterns, color, action, and, emotions surround us. As a photographer, I live to capture such images. I am an opportunistic photographer, always on the move with my camera, but rarely with a specific image in mind. Instead, I am a voyeur who captures what he sees and, if lucky, it is the AHA! Moment, the unforgettable image. The photographs in this collection strive to capture the abstraction and unforgettable image."
Frank Parisi was born in Brooklyn and is a successful legal professional on the outside who has a visual artist inside of him screaming to get out. He graduated from New York University with honors and has several advance degrees from George Washington University, but little formal artistic training other than a lifelong love of the arts. He fed his creative hunger through the years first with photography, which was a family hobby, then rebuilding and painting a Victorian house for his family, woodworking and sculpture, drawing, and, most recently, a return to photography.
Frank’s work is built on these varied experiences. His photographs have been included in numerous shows in New Jersey including “Eyesights” at the Guild for Creative Art in Shrewsbury, and “New Jersey is Not Boring” at the Arts Guild New Jersey in Rahway. He has won many awards, including honors in three separate categories at the Ocean County Artists’ Guild Juried Photography show in 2014. He also hosted two solo shows in 2014.
