Chris St. Lawrence
Photography is exploration. The work of Jacques Cousteau, a personal inspiration since early childhood, cultivated a sense of reverence for discovery and for the role that all forms of life play in one collective ecosystem. Through the lens of a camera the daily exploration continues; the urban pulse of a New York minute, Edinburgh's macabre underground, organized chaos of the streets of Hong Kong, an upstate NY farmhouse in October.
Falke, my photographic debut at Torche Galerie, is an the intimate recognition of the duality of Mother Nature thriving in an urban environment.
Chris St. Lawrence was raised in rural Downstate New York on the edge of a former apple orchard turned wildlife preserve. Chris is a graduate of Villanova University’s School of Liberal Arts and currently enrolled in Marist College. He is a creative thinker, constant innovator and emerging artist currently residing in the City of Yonkers.
His unique perspective ranges from a simple affinity for environment to a complex desire to manipulate environment via time and space. His photographic style is in a constant flux, remaining fluid through frequent experimentation.
